Hi i am thinking about upgrading my Ram but just a bit confused as to what will fit the intel site for my m/board chipset states i can use up to 8Gig DDR3?? But the acer site states max 4Gig DDR2 bear in mind that was in 2008/9 launch year so maybe DDR3 8 Gig was not available for testing ??any advice on this please,Ihave enclosed a zip file from intel on this hop it helps .If i can not use DDR3 then can i at least fit 2x4Gig rams in ?

What will most likely happen is that everything will run as normal but only 4GB of RAM will be recognized and used by your system.
But there is a possibility that the system may not boot because it cannot recognize a 4GB RAM stick at all.

Clicking on the Memory tab in CPU-Z will tell you what you have now. It doesn't matter what the chipset supports, DDR2 & DDR3 sockets are different & one won't physically fit into the other.

Ditto what Comp Cmndo says. The Intel chip sets are programmable and each OEM determines the options programmed into the chip sets. You have to use the specifications issued by the motherboard manufacturer or the builder of the system (OEM). This is also why it's important to use hardware drivers issued by the OEM. Some generic drivers just won't work even though the same components may be used on various models.
