Slickgeek, why don't you let your router assign IP addresses via DHCP then create your Homegroup, setup your shares and be done. Seems your doing to much work when it could be easier. Just checking!

The device that connects you to the internet should assign DHCP addresses, does it not? -WS

I have connected the ethernet cable from my neighbour to the switch.every other computer and printer are connected to the switch..Do you get me now,if i allow them to obtain IP addresses automatically do i need also to set the Network printers to obtain IP addresses automatically because i dont haev that option on one of the printers it's using a static IP address..192.168.1.99..

Everything is working except the internet

Set one computer to DHCP, let it connect to the internet. Once it is working open a Command Prompt and type ipconfig /all. Write down the IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and DNS Servers.

Then you can setup all your computers with static addresses (not in the DHCP range) using the Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and DNS Servers that you wrote down. You should then have internet on all computers. -WS

Slickgeek, if you still are not able to access the internet after follwing WS instructions, try connecting your switch to your neighbors with a crossover cable. Some switches require crossover cables for interconnectivity. BTW the cable "looks" just like a Cat 5 cable but the pin configuration is different internally. Ask for it by name at the store. Keep us posted.

Connecting a router to a switch requires a straight through cable, usually.
