Connecting Broadband to Tablet using USB LAN adapter

This may not be the best place for tablet discussions but it has something to do with pppoe and Bridge mode ...


I have a micromax funbook. It has a microusb port and I have a micro to USB adapter. In teh manual they are saying I can connect to net using a lan cable via a LAN to USB adaptor.

So I bought a LAN to USB adapter (by ENTER, Costs 450/-* MRP) .. I checked it at the shop using their net connection, which was in PPPoe mode(Doesnot need a dialer). It was working and I could get kind of ok connection speed.

At my home I have Broadband in Bridged( I need to dial to get connected) mode. So I have to create a dialup connection dial to connect to net. So when I use the adapter at home cannot connect to net.

Anyone know how to get bridged to get working on a Tablet? I am using bridged because I can keep my modem on and can connect to net quickly when needed. If there is no other way I will switch to PPPoe mode. But don't advice to "buy a modem with wifi" etc..

dude, even i was searching for da same thing! but i dont have any bridge connection. I have a direct broardband cable wire. Can i connect it to funtab via USB LAN Adapter directly??

Bridge connection is not a device. Its a type of connection. If you are dialing to connect to net, you have bridge connection. If you just turn on the modem and conenct, without dialing, you have pppoe connection.

In PPPoe Connection we can directly connect the funbook, if you use a crossover cable, the cable you use in computer is straight cable.
In Bridge mode we can't connect

Am Wondering why he want to use it in a Bridged mode , Bridged mode extends the network you use router in a Building 1 And U want to use Router 2 In Building 2, In that case u bring the wire from Router 1 to Router 2 Which is in the Building 2 , In that scenario Only you shud Right click on the card and select Bridged Mode.

Plug in the ehternet cable , Net connected Easy kno !! pppoe thats why its for !!

And tell us abt ur Review of the product, am looking to buy this week ! Micro sim is fit into that ?

In Bridge, I can always keep modem on, and when I want to connect I can just dial. If I keep modem on in pppoe, I will be losing small amount of bandwidth. Also startup time for bridge is much lower.
I also want to schedule my downloads when I have free usage. For which bridge mode is best.


As for review, Its a quite good product, And highly Value for money. It doesn't support sim card( or micro sim) Check teh spec before buying. It doesn't have bluetooth, gps etc Which I am ok with.

i understand that u have night usage policy ! the amount of data transmitting and reciveing in the properities of network card is just the ICMP Echos and Broadcast Replies that wont eat much Bandwidth ! and infact it wont come into the picture of MB Calculation u kno wht i mean !!
