Ok so I've been at this all day with no solution to my problem!!

My set up is

USB dongle(Huawei e173) in my laptop (connected to GiffGaff-which runs on o2 network)
Xbox Connected to laptop via Ethernet
Then I'm sharing the USB internet with the Ethernet using ICS.

The problem I've having is that the Ethernet is taking a long time to identify and then returns a state of 'unidentified network' when I try and connect laptop to the Xbox.

I had been connecting to Xbox Live for months tethering from my android and bridging connections without problems until my phone provider blocked tethering.

Anybody any ideas what the problem might be??

Here is my ipconfig from cmd:

is the xbox connected using a straight CAT5 cable that you would use for a router? If so, when going from machine to machine you need a crossover CAT5 cable or a CAT5 crossover adapter.

Hi

AFAIK its a standard ethernet cable so I presume CAT5. This was working fine though when using the android AP as my internet source in recent months.

I've been playing around with static ips. I can get the laptop to form a network with the xbox with I assign them both static ips. However it won't connect to the internet. Could I assign my USB Dongle a static ip or would this work?

Unfortunately my knowledge in this area is limited!
