Hello people

Lately I have been having problems with my rig, encountering constant black screens (with hard hangs) everytime I'm trying to play a game.

So far the problems have been showing in every game I've tried included the all mighty performance sucker hearthstone (?!?!)

Anyway, I personally think that my pc is more than enough capable of running games such as diablo 3 and hearthstone without constant crashing.

My specs are as follows

i7 2600k
PNY GTX 570
PSU 1000W coolermaster silent pro gold
8 gigs of ram

Now, this is really a cry for help.
My google pages are all purpled-out since I haven't left a single one without a look regarding my problem, I really have no idea what or where to look for.

What I've done so far
Disabling audio drivers
Underclocking gpu, upping voltage of cpu by a bit, pushing gpu fan to 80%
Updating drivers, reformatting hell of a lot
ran memtest as well as monitoring msi afterburner for gpu

I've also checked all of my tempratures in my hardware, and there is nothing odd with them, when idle or even before the crash.

I've searched all over the internet, I haven't found my solution and I think I'll go mad anytime soon if I don't find one.

If there is an expert out there that is willing to help me, please do so.

Thanks in advance, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread constantly!

It's no trouble at all. Don't be concerned about that. The problem is there are no dump files in there. So, very little for us to go on. Please make sure your computer is configured for Small Memory Dumps this will show you how. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/174459-dump-files-configure-windows-create-bsod.html also, after doing that go to C:/Windows and make sure you have a folder named Minidump. If there is not one there create one named Minidump. The next time you have a BSOD or two, post the BSOD posting instructions again.

I will also suggest if you have anything overclocked, please set everything back to defaults, at least until we get you stable.

Please fill out your System Specs

   Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html

Before I take any steps, and forgive me for maybe sounding dumb (I'm more of a gamer than a pc tech) I want to make clear that it's not a blue screen of death rather than a black screen without any letters or numbers.

That being said, should I proceed to take the steps you told me to?

@Denisgsv I did test the gpu, on HS it will work underclocking the card by 50, but I cannot stop it from happening on every other game.

Yes, do the steps I told you. It may or may not produce a dump file, but it needs to be set up that way anyway. The detailed system specs would be very important too. All with Manufacturer and model numbers so we can look up the components, if we need to.

Sure, that would help a lot if you get a blue screen. What GPU temp monitoring program are you using? Will it allow you an on screen display and a custom fan profile ? If you do it I would like the temps also.

I'm using MSI Afterburner to monitor and tweak my GPU. the temps when idle are on 50 Celcius and when gaming they can go up to 70 (maximum), which to my knowledge is normal.

Yes, the software I'm using allows me monitoring full time and messing up with the fan speed.

70 Max is OK, but I think 50 idle is a little high. Having said that, idle temps are not as important as max temps on heavy usage.

I'm using MSI Afterburner which allows me to monitor my temps full time and fan speed tweaking.

The temps are stable at 51 degrees when idle and they can go up to maximum 70 when playing a very demanding game.

However on games such as hearthstone they only go up to max 55-60.

Alright, I've caused the crash again and got a black screen, not much effort needed since it crashes in the first minute or two.

After I hard resetted my pc (leaves me no other choise since it's a hard hang) I looked in my Minidump folder and there is nothing in here.

Anyway, here is the new Zip for you to look.

I didnt meant that , "stressed in a game" .

I did check/stress my cpu/ram/gpu separately (memtest , heaven , mem95) and they passed everything .
But ingame i still get crashes , so i think its not the components but rather the PSU when all 3 in combination are under load .
Excluding the hardware that way it may be a psu problem .

The main suspects are the PSU or the card itself. The PSU is very difficult to test. You can test it at idle but testing it under load, is difficult without a PSU tester. How about go into bios and tell me the readings for the +12V, +5V and +3.3V. Then I would like to rule out Driver problems before testing hardware.

Before you start this, be sure you create a restore point http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html

Enable driver verifier but only enable the options: Standard settings and IRP logging step 3.

Also, be sure to enable it only for non Microsoft drivers.

Enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers. Follow this Tutorial for instructions:
Driver Verifier -Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information

http://www.sevenforums.com/images/infosmall1.png Information

We use Driver Verifier as it puts a stress on the drivers, and so it makes the unstable drivers crash. This should flag the driver responsible in the dump file.
It

Driver Verifier will make the system laggy, this is normal so don't worry.

Before enabling DV, make sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. make a System Restore Point Manually

If there are no points, make one

May I ask where can I find this info inside the BIOS? Because I searched all around and and didn't find anything regarding 12V 5V and 3.3V in order to report.

One more thing. I saw on bios 2 odd things, one, that my RAM was on turbo mode, and second, an HPET (or something along those lines) was in 32 bit instead of 64, now I have no idea what the heck are those things supposed to be saying I just found them odd enough to report them to you, I did NOT change those values.

On my end I think that something may be wrong in the software. PSU and GPU are looking great, I can't see anything on temps, or gpu usage. PSU on the other hand is something, like you said, that I cannot test.

I tried causing the crash again, played hearthstone (a game of cards), I left it in a match against an AI and went down, made a coffee etc. got back upstairs and pc hadn't crash yet, then, as soon as I played a card, pc just crashed.

This problem is bugging my entire mind. I really really hope I find a solution to this.

Also, should we look for BIOS problems regarding the motherboard in compatibillity with my ram cpu etc?

I'm not familiar with Gigabyte BIOS. But, you should have a section of hardware monitor, or system monitor or something like that. You usually have section where you can control your fan speeds and such. It should show the temps and voltages. While you are in BIOS, look and usually in Advanced there will be something similar to sata controllers, Don't change anything, just tell me what it is set to. Also go to your ram configuration. You should have an overclocking part of bios. Tell me the ram timings (just the first 4) the ram frequency and dram voltage.

If you don't have it already, please download and install CPUz ( CPU-Z CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting ) and post screenshots http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9733-screenshots-files-upload-post-seven-forums.html of the CPU, mainboard, memory and SPD tabs. On the SPD tabs you can select each dim slot in a dropdown in the top left. Just post shots of the slots with ram in them.
