Constant but random email receive errors "internal server error", etc.

This issue has plagued me for many, many years. Across WinXP and Win7, Outlook 2000, 2010 and 2013, 3 different AV programs, 2 different ISP's - DSL and Cable, automatic send/receive or manual, short server timeout or up to 5 minute server timeout. I currently use Bitdefender and have it set to NOT scan incoming email.

I often get email errors like "Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your settings... The server responded: -ERR Internal Server error'. These errors are always only on the receive side, never any issue with sending. I have multiple businesses and check 10 or more accounts with each send/receive. Sometimes I might go days or week with no issue, sometimes one or two accounts only will give me issues for a few days then go away. Right now I have 3 accounts giving me fits non-stop.

This is driving me crazy!! Does anyone have some other suggestions???

One of the first things you can try is to clear your browser cache, you didn't mention which browser you prefer or generally use but this page covers the most popular: How Do I Clear My Browser's Cache? But if your with AT&T/SBC/Yahoo that won't help.

It would also be helpful if you can tell me if there was a number that went along with that internal server error, an error of this type is usually, but not always on the site's you're try to connect to web server:

  • How many years? Six?

  • The number of the internal server error? Would it be?
error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR [SYS/TEMP] internal server error (#IS6532)'

  • What email program(s) are you currently using? There is a workaround in the above link that if you shorten Outlook's Server Timeouts to the minimum (10sec) it will reduce the the error's.

  • In reference to that link, have you noticed the error changed from server error to server timeout?

  • Everything I've seen with the server error #IS6532 points to AT&T, it doesn't matter what browser or email program.

Sorry for the delay, been kept away...
- At least 5 years
- The server error number varies from episode to episode, sometimes varies between accounts but often is Server reported error 0x800CCC92 with no other number, or same message with IS6532; internal server error, server rejected your login, etc.
- Currently MediaCom cable, was Frontier DSL, before that Verizon DSL. Some e-mail addresses are with the cable company, some with Frontier still.
- As stated, currently Outlook 2013 but present in all previous versions as well
- As stated, have tried very short, medium and up to 5 min server timeouts
