Constant crashes even on fresh copy of Windows

I built a new pc a couple of months ago, and until last week I had no problems at all. I attemped to create a dual boot with Mac OS X, but failed shortly after creating a new partition. Shortly after installing acronis disk director (not sure if this is related) I started getting boot problems. I also noticed around the same time that the mini HDMI cable in the back on the graphics card was slightly damaged (again not sure if this is related). Anyway, after reinstalling windows, and reinstalling all drivers i was still having the same problems. After a few restarts the computer wouldnt boot at all, so I removed the CMOS battery for a short time, reinserted it and it booted up, with still the same problems. I then formatted the partition, and tried reinstalling windows again, but to no avail. Basically windows now loads up, but crashes after a few seconds. It works perfectly in safe mode, which is how im writing this post. I have tried updating my nvidia drivers, and even rolling back to old versions, but still the same problem occurs. Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dane

Yes, this can cause issues including display corruption

That Asus Display Lower Filter driver should be uninstalled
Do not use the custom Asus Display driver, use the official Nvidia one
Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

I would suggest updating all the Asus utilities on your system by downloading them from the Asus website

thanks for the reply! i will download the nvidia drivers now! as for the mini hdmi cable, i failed to mention but i replaced that yesterday, and it changed nothing. should i just delete the lower filter file from the 'drivers' folder? that message appears on the asus website when i click the detect my settings automatically button.

i reinstalled the latest nvidia drivers from the site, and deleted the ATKDispLowFilter.sys file. after a few reboot attempts (it kept restarting at the point where the welcome screen should appear), windows finally loaded up, then froze again a few minutes later. any other ideas? dane

Boot in safemode and check for recent failure messages in the event viewer.
