Constantly slow and disconnecting from internet (no internet access)

Ok this has been happening for a few weeks now with the connection either being slow or just displaying a yellow triangle saying limited access and no internet access. Getting pretty desperate and running out of ideas now so need to ask here.

Basically we switched ISPs after about a month of no internet, our old modem was from 2005ish and it was just a standard modem where you plug in a wireless router into it and it worked fine. Now we have a wireless modem hub which we were using when I noticed my laptop started having these issues. The other laptop, phones, tablets and PS3 connect fine and maintain connection. So I decided to try connecting up our router and using that (Cisco Linksys E2000, which actually performs better anyway), however the problem persists.

I did a complete reinstall of Windows 7 32bit HP thinking it would solve the problem (I was planning on reinstalling anyway to speed it up) but it made no difference. Updated the drivers for the wifi card (Atheros AR9285) to the latest version. Nothing.

I've googled and tried a bunch of things including disabling ipv6, ROUTE DELETE 0.0.0.0 and resetting to 192.168.1.1, disabling DHCP in ipv4. Right now in Device manager I'm also seeing a "Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface" which I've just noticed on this startup. It has a yellow triangle on it and says cannot start (code 10) in properties.

So basically, every so often the connection will either be slow or just won't start at all, and on some boots of the system it'll just be stuck on "Identifying..." for like 30 seconds+ before becoming an "Unidentified Network" with the bench icon despite it being the same connection as the home connection I have.

Oddly enough, right now it's working fine with 5 full white bars in the bottom right and is fast, but more often than not itll be doing the above. I'll post a screencap of my ipconfig /all anyway as it is:

Also for the record, I don't have McAfee or bonjour installed, I saw these were common culprits with this problem too. Also tried disabling Avast and Windows Firewall and right now my router has security disabled and no MAC address filter. It's fine for other devices like I said.

Hi, the laptop model is Samsung R519, I've filled out as much as I can in my User CP.

Also it went back to limited just before and I grabbed another screen of IP config with zero difference:

I then took a look at my PS3s Network settings and it says IP address 192.168.1.135, but the primary DNS is 192.168.0.1/Secondary 0.0.0.0

yet is connected fine.

Also forgot to mention that when I connected last night, and am connected now (the connection is still up and down), in Network sharing, the connected is showing as a public network even though it's connected to the home network profile I have saved.

Discovered that it's down to the Sky Hub SR102 which keeps dropping connection as other devices are also disconnecting, plugged in the Linksys again and have much stronger wifi and even better, an internet connection. Will see how long this lasts and if there's still more issues will have to maybe call and get a replacement Sky Hub.

Everything is still fine however everytime I boot up my laptop the connection still shows as a public network with a bench. Speed and connection are fine though. Even after setting it as home network, on reboot I have to connect manually by clicking connections in the taskbar and choosing the network then for it to be displayed as a public network again.

Otherwise though it's fine and am just thankful I actually have a connection.

Aaron there is a security that you can add to the modem too - well ate least I have and it is known as WPA2-PSK I don't know much about how to set it up but your manual or modem manufacturer should be able to set you up.

Right now I have the Sky Hub set to modem only (sort of, there is no actual bridge/modem only mode on it but reading guides and whatnot you can simply plug a router into it and put the routers IP into the DMZ port of the Sky Hub, then disable wireless on the Sky Hub).

So all routing is now done on my Linksys E2000 including the WPA2 security. Only slight problem I'm having now is having my laptop auto connect to it on startup. I just connected to it on this boot up and it put it as home network. I then went to

Network and Sharing > Manage Wireless Networks > Double clicked on my router and checked:

Connect automatically when this network is in range
Connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)

(which I thought I had done anyway) then clicked ok. Fingers crossed on my next bootup it connects automatically, has it as my saved Home Network, has a connection to the internet instantly and that'll be the end of my problems.

Apparently a lot of people are having issues with these Sky Hubs and I was so close to calling them for a replacement (but tbh doubt it wouldve worked then, the Hub itself is the problem).

Yes Aaron I have similar problem with my laptop wifi adaptor it is running 8 and I shall have a look later to see what settings will make it auto set because doing it manually is tedious but hey at least it isa connection. I think w might be getting somewhere with this one.

I cannot do this at home as I do not trust wifi I always use cabled connections even though they can get messy (I have three hubs) but at least I know I am not transmitting my gear to others close by but that is me being a bit paranoid I suppose.
Having said that I do find I get less malware with the modem security set up.

Good advice Aaron myself I prefer an all in one modem / router and use the TP-Link ones.

Few disconnects again today and putting the access point into a public network mode with a no internet access message, think it's pretty much down to the wifi card in the laptop just cutting out after no activity for 30 mins or so (I have the "turn this device off to save power" option unticked for the wifi), so yeah, if I don't leave it for an extended time it should be ok.

In order to fix it I have to go into network and sharing and click the red X between access point - internet, it then seems to somehow just fix it. Still stays as a public network with a bench though.

Sorry late reply Aaron well it seems to have a mind of its own or from what you say but I suppose if it works somewhat then it is something. I will have another think but am offline for a while now.

Just ordered a ASUS N13 USB wifi dongle. If that doesn't solve it I'll just have to get a new laptop sometime since everything else in the house works. The PS3 is wireless G and is in the same room and connects fine.

Hum well a long a sit is connecting up mate mind you that is an older connection in it being g and not the n that is about the base level you want these days.
