what do you think, have a better recommendation? I work about five miles fro Fry's so I will grab it instead of using newegg

A good cooler is worth it if you're going to overclock, but otherwise it's not. With your CPU, I'd stay with the stock cooler.

A water cooling system is too expensive, it requires regular maintenance, and it would be a huge waste of money for the i5-3330. Intel's stock cooler is more than enough for it. The only time water cooling is worth the investment is if you want to do some extreme overclocking.

Oh. You're talking about those kind of water coolers. Still, he has the i5-3330. So, he won't be overclocking and therefore any aftermarket cooling is a waste of money unless his stock cooler is defective.

What has inspired you to look into aftermarket cooling?

If you plan on upgrading your CPU to something you can OC with, then you'll definitely need a new cooler as the stock Intel is garbage at anything other than stock-ish speeds. A closed loop water cooling system will not only look nicer in your rig, it will put less strain on your motherboard, and arguably is quieter while doing a better job at cooling. That being said, the CoolerMaster 212 Evo is probably one of the best CPU coolers you can buy in the sub-$50 range. With good thermal paste, it should take you to over 4GHz........on a K series CPU that is.

Hi Dude

I installed a COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO in my last build (see My System Specs) and Im very happy with it my temps are low and the 212 EVO is worth every penny

Temps uptime 2.49 hours 33c all cores (and its 23c in my house)

I will move to a K chip in the future, and want this mainly because I like it. The intel fan works, but I think this looks much better. When I do upgrade, I will probably get the I53570k, and do a modest OC to around 4.2. Thanks for the input guys and gals

Then this cooler is more than enough for that. You could overclock to 4.5 GHz with it.

No, it's not silly. I don't think any sane computer enthusiast likes Intel's stock coolers.

You can still benefit from an aftermarket cooler, now, as I'm sure you could run the fan really slow and cool it much better than the stock Intel garbage. So right there you have a quieter machine. If you want to quantify/justify it now that is. I would stick to the Hyper 212 Plus, or the 212 Evo. I don't like coolers with fans smaller than 120mm........the smaller the fan you have, the faster it will have to turn and the more noise it will put out.

Dude you have been given some great choices to pick from.

I'm not going to tell you which one is a waste of your money because it's your money not mine.

I have never used a stock cpu cooler whether it was good enough or not. Their is no such thing as having to good of cooler.

I chose the Corsair H50 at the time I built this computer for these reasons.
1. At the time it was a great cooler. Still works great with upgraded fans. Not as good as the newer ones.
2. It allows a lot better air flow around the motherboard, video card and ram.
3. It take a lot of weight off the motherboard compared to a huge air heat sink.
4. It gives you more working room in the case when tinkering.
5. It helps keeping things neat and organized in the case.

When I build another computer it will have a enclosed water cooler of some kind.
