What's wrong with ripping with WMP - most tablets support .wma.

Most, but not all. Although since the OP is inexperienced in this area, WMP could be an easy option to figure out......and it can rip to MP3 if you set it to do so in the options (not the superior LAME version however).

As an experienced user in these matters, I wouldn't rip with WMP, but it might be the answer for the OP.

That was the idea. But the guys have very sensitive ears - lol.

Thanks for all the replies. Sorry you all got sidetracked.
I would love to use WMP, but when I open it, there is no RIP and no OPTIONS.

Thanks, but I don't see that window when I open WMP.

Also, I don't want to Rip the whole CD, only a few songs, and I don't want them in one of those ^&#%$%^@ libraries. That's the only thing I hate about WIN 7 is it wants to think for you. Grrrr.

I can't open the HLP file. I downloaded the .enu version and a .cnt (?) file as suggested, now I get this: "Can't open this help file . . . copy the file to a different drive and try again."

Different drive? As far as I know my PC only has one Hard Drive.

Why do they make everything so damn complicated?

You have to have a CD inserted for the RIP thing to appear, I think.

I think with WMP you can just highlight the songs you want to rip. And the libraries are not the end of the world....they can actually be quite handy, and you can always ignore them. Just a word of warning regarding CDex. I just tried to uninstall it because I only have needed it once to rip a video DVD. Revo tells me that it has made over 2000 registry entries and also created over 2000 files. A lot of the registry entries are from the sidebar. I left them alone. But that is not inspiring.

I use the exe version, not the enu version. I was not aware there was an enu version.

I did not download the program referred to because I already know how to run the program and don't need the help file.

If you still want to pursue the program, I can probably help you get going with it in this or another thread. There are 2 or 3 configuration choices you should make and you will be ready.

If you download the exe version, you will probably be shown a choice of which type of install you want to use. I chose the middle choice (Unicode), not the registry version.
