I have a few old, unused profiles I'd like to delete in preparation for the Win 10 upgrade. I created a new one. My current profile is about 5GB. Is there a way to copy parts of it to the new profile, or is the only option to copy the entire file? Thanks.

If you delete the User Profile, the Directory structure and files stay intact.
So the files are still accessible after the deletion of a Profile.

Best to backup your personal files and programs before upgrade to Windows 10.

Good info, Iko, thanks. Is my 5GB current profile one large file? If it is, I don't understand how it's still accessible after deleting it.

1. Are profiles also called accounts? There are 6 profiles, and I see the current account I've been using for years is less than 500MB, not 5GB. I used to save all my docs, photos, etc. to the desktop, then moved them recently to a directory in root C:\. Could that be why the profile is smaller now?

2. Where are the profiles stored?

3. Also, I log in using "myprofile" as the user (Administrator, Password protected), but I'm not seeing it in the User Profiles list as "myprofile." Since I call it "myprofile," is it the one showing as Administrator? Some of the other profiles are also Admins, but show as their login name, but not the one I'm using.

Sorry for the confusing explanation. Thanks.

Iko, I just deleted one of the less important profiles, and I see it saved the files in my desktop. So, good to go. Thanks!

Each user has his own folder under C:\Users\NAME
Under C:\Users\NAME you will have not only the user Data files but also the User Windows and program settings.
