While I wouldn't expect CorelDraw 12 to be fully compatible with Windows 7 it worked fine with Vista, or at least the bits I needed to work did.

However I find that with W7 if I open an existing file which has multiple pages it opens the default page but attempting to clicking on another page tab results in the "Program has stopped working" error. I have tried to apply the available SP1 Corel update but it won't run. It starts and almost immediately comes up with a message "The installation has been interrupted .." and stops.

As I use Corel to DTP the village magazine (for historic reasons - the printer uses that program) and nothing else, I am loath to buy an upgrade though given the essential role it plays in the commuity I may well have to. However a free solution would be preferable!

Have you tried the compatibility mode options for both the program and / or the SP1 upgrade - this may allow you to run the program or to update it

If the program ran under vista then It should run under 1 of the vista modes

That didn't work. Tried with various similar size files and the same happened opened up 2 or 3 pages and then crash. Also tried opening a file, saving it and then opening that file in case it was some saving quirk. That didn't work either. The update file is an msp file and right clicking on it doesn't show a compatability mode.

Given that I can open 2 or 3 pages in the file before it crashes could it be a memory problem? Doubtful as I can use Photoshop to edit mutiple files without problems but worth checking. Does W7 have a memory checker?

The only other thing I can think of doing is setting up a dual boot system with XP.
