Hi Guys
I am about at frustration point here. I again re-installed windows this week-end as my icons for shortcuts I had made for various programs suddenly "changed" to weird looking ones. When I tried to fix the problem through properties I got a message saying that the file the shorcut related to could not be found in the %systemroot% directory. Rebuilding the icon cache did not help either. After searching manually ensuring all files including protected system files were visible I could not find the particular directories the shortcuts were pointing to either.
Then I decided to check uninstall programs in my control panel to see what was installed and as you can see by the image I have included a number of programs now have a "blank" icons associated to them where it was a different one when initially installed (as anyone with silverlight properly installed will see) also a lot of the file sizes are also missing.
Frankly I have no idea why this is happening, I cannot pinpoint it to installing any one program as I have installed programs differently in different order each new install but end up at the same result often before even half of my programs are re-installed. I'd appreciate ANY help on this issue or hearing about if anyone else is experiencing this problem. I am running the x64 Ultimate Edition of Windows 7 downloaded from technet with a legitimate key and activation. It installs perfectly it is when I add other programs to the installation that things start to go weird.
