The network icon always appeared like this: Screenshot by Lightshot even when I was connected to the internet. I've fixed the problem by removing all my networks then rebooting, but it just comes back when I don't. It used to work fine all the time. This happened after I updated a network adapter driver, so I uninstalled the driver for said adapter then reinstalled it, but that didn't do anything. It also messed up my Microsoft Miniport Adapter naming by making it Microsoft Virtual Miniport Adapter #2. I went into the registry to change the name to just Microsoft Virtual Miniport Adapter, but I couldn't - there was stupid permissions preventing me from doing so. The #2 was really weird to me, I wondered how it got there before I realized it came after the reinstalling of my network adapter, so I thought that was the culprit of the messing up network icon, so I tried to change and delete some more registry keys and delete some files for the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport adapter. I thought CCleaner had made a registry backup that was really recent, but apparently it didn't (I wouldn't go into this knowing I had no way to recover), so I was out of luck on restoring the registry.

I've tried a repair install and a system recovery. The system recovery can't restore the registry and the repair install always hung on downloading installation files or checking compatibility. I've also done another Network Adapter reinstall to see if I could get my Virtual WiFi back, but nope, and it just makes the registry keys say 3 now. -_-

I'm pulling my hair out over this. Unlike others, I used that Virtual WiFi adapter frequently, and I'm very picky over icons - I want my network icon to stay the white bars for good.

Can anyone help?

Here's the registry keys and driver files that currently remain for the Miniport Adapter:

I altered FriendlyName from Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #x to Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter from the CurrentControlSet, and the bottom key under vwifimp and then it disappeared, incase that helps.

Now for the files that remain:

A lot of files, but I hope you can help me find what I'm missing...

Here's the search results for "vwifi"

And here's the folder I modified files from:

Lastly, here's a place where I deleted two registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

I also removed the place where it said "Microsoft Virtual Miniport Adapter" in Descriptions.

So yeah, whatever I'm missing, can you help me fix/provide? Can one of these files I have left fix my registry or something?
