Corrupt Partition. What should I do?

I booted up my computer earlier today only to see that my computer cannot locate my operating system. After running a memory test with memtest86, no errors were reported. After sitting in front of my computer frustrated I put in my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OEM disc and tried running a Start Up Repair and I noticed in the repair description "Root cause found: Partition table is corrupt on disk/Device/Harddisk0."

The Start Up Repair did nothing and I am stuck where I began. Is it possible to recover my OS without doing a full re-install? Also, seeing how I have a OEM disc, will I need an entire new key just to re-install my OS?

This is highly frustrating. If any kind soul can help out a fellow nerd in need, please help me.

The short answer is that you are going to have to reformat your drive to repair your partition table, then perform a clean install of the OS.. Since you will be installing on the same machine, you will still be able to use the same OEM key... You can save your settings and documents with Windows Easy Transfer ....

So I'm sitting here running the OS disc and when I click install, it can not find my hard drive. Though my hard drive is connected correctly and when I boot up the system, it shows my hard drive's name and whatnot. So what do you guys think? Another way to format my HD or is my HD broken? Note: I just bought this hard drive less then a month ago. Any help would be appreciated.

How did you wipe the previous partition?

If the drive does not have a drive letter the installer may not be able to find it. You can use a 3rd party app like parigon disk suite to partiton it and give it a drive letter. The software is free to try.

I believe a memory test called memtest86 corrupted my partition. Im posting from my laptop right now because I can't even boot my OS on my desk top. I'll look into that app.

Have you tried wiping the disc with the "clean all" command?

I would look into doing a full format before your install.

Thanks for the help. Im just going to have to head out to the store and buy some blank CD's and try Western Digitals: Bootable diagnostics: WD Support > Downloads > SATA & SAS > WD Caviar Black . If I don't have any luck with that, I'll try a command prompt hard drive wipe. Thanks again.
