Could a router restart the PC?

1) Can a router, connected to the computer only with a net cable (this standard one:

restart the computer (immediately, with no "restarting message")? Like a kind of tension problem.
Because sometimes (not very frequently) the PC gives me a black screen and it restarts, and then I find out that the network doesn't work. So I restart Windows two more times and then it works. Sometimes it doesn't and so I have to restart the router and then it finally works.
If this is not possible, the cause may be the GPU, because sometimes it does weird things too.
2) If this is the case, is it normal/possible that if Window crashes (regardless if it's because the GPU or something else) the net does not work until I restart Windows and / or the router?

It's doubtful that the router would crash Windows, unless there is an electrical problem at the router and it's applying some weird voltage into your network adapter in the PC. That is pretty far fetched to really happen, so no, I don't think it's possible. The crashes might be caused by something else.

As far as your connectivity goes, I don't quite understand what you mean about restarting Windows. If it crashes, you will have to restart. Does the network not work even after you've restarted?

I see.

Just wondering if it's "normal".

No. Definitely not normal, but I don't think it's router related. Does this happen with any pattern like any particular software, or is it just completely random?

As you said, it might be your GPU. It might also be a temperature or RAM problem. Try running Memtest86+ a few times and test your RAM:

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

It will give us a place to start troubleshooting.

Thanks. I just wanted to rule out the router as the cause.
If the problem gets more frequent I'll do what you suggest, thanks.

Have you tried another powerboard/different power socket?

If the PC is restarting and the router too (resyncing? hence no router access) it might be worth looking at that.

Otherwise as mentioned, it could be another faulty component. The lack of router could just be a secondary/separate event.
