I keep getting this error when trying to install and exe I have tried safe mode and system restore but can get no joy I get this error message when I try system restore.

Can you please give us a little more detail about the problem? I know you have a problem with system restore, but in what aspect? Can't you bring up the System restore window at all? Or can't you restore your system?
Instead of a System restore, you might be able to do a Repair install. Or just talk us through the problem that makes you need to do a system restore.

Cant bring up system restore can in safe mode but seems to have little effect as whenever I try to install out of safe mode I keep getting the same message. Any exe file produces the same message. I have been trying to install skype all I get is the above message. I have tried the system restore in safemode no joy

Ah so any application comes up with that error? Thanks for the clarification
Now, my first choice would be to do a file integrity check (looks for corrupt/missing files in your Windows installation).

Same Problem

Hi,
I have the exact same problem and when I tried to open the cmd box and run as admin it showed me the same error message: The system could not find the environment option that was entered.
Please help

Hi gracethegal and Welcome to SevenForums,

If you can not do a system restore and failed to make a System Image backup, then I recommend a repair install.

This same advice is applicable to the Thread Starter. I can understand wanting to "tag along", but if in the future try to avoid tagging along by simply starting your own thread.

thanks, I did do a system restore in Safe Mode and it seems to have cleared up my problem

Have you tried the aforementioned options?
