Hello everyone,

I'm sorry but I'm new here. I didn't know that I could not just barge to someone elses' thread. =( As what I have stated before, I also encountered the same concern with the other member here. But I'm not sure if we have the same issue about employees selling OS.
I bought my ASUS eeePC 1015PX last Nov of 2011 and after I did a boot scan with avast last month. It showed infected files so I deleted those files and after few days, my netbook is prompting me that my windows 7 starter OS is counterfeit. How could this be possible if I bought this in a well-known computer shop here in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

So, please I'm begging you to also help me with my problem. Here is the diagnostic report:

Hmm, I think some of the first Win 7 cracks worked like that. Well, the most obvious sign to look for would be the Starter licence sticker, which should be in the bottom side of the netbook. If you have that, then you just screwed up something and you should follow Bassfisher's advice, if there isn't...... it's counterfeit.

Does it have the COA sticker on the bottom of laptop or under the battery, required by law to sell any preinstalled Win7? If so activate now at Control Panel>System with the Product Key.

If not call MS Customer Service to report what has happened as they may provide a free license key if you cooperate with a piracy inquiry.

YEs, it has COA sticker under the battery. In the Control Panel>System, in the bottom saying Windows activation, it only shows there Status Not Available and Product ID: Not available.

I'm really sorry but I don't know how to activate it if ever I didn't activate it in the first place. Please help me. I'm kinda slow about computers. =(

The first thing you can try is a system restore, to a point in time before you started to encounter the problem. Next you could try running scfscannow in cmd prompt.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

As a last resort you could do a factory reset of the notebook using Asus built in software.

http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/158471-asus-problems-restoring-factory-settings.html

Hello. I've tried the sfc /scannow for the second time and it says, Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log. I followed what has been said on the other thread about sfc scannow but it didn't work out on Option 3.

I was also about to do the restore to factory settings but it is not one of the choices when I reboot the netbook. What am I going to do? Hope you are not tired of helping me out on this.

Hope to hear from you very soon. I am about to lose patience on this notebook whenever it pops up a counterfeit message. And when it popped up, all systems and tools got jammed.

Thanks and will be looking forward for your great help,

Sir George,

Thanks for the info. but if you ever been to Saudi Arabia you will be annoyed on how they treat their customers. They don't have time for the customers and they spent most of their time taking teas and doing prayers.
Once you arrived in the Immigration, you will see that they fail in customer service side, so if you can solve your problem by yourself, it is much better than wasting your 24 hours waiting on the line and not getting any single info at all.

So, I'm really trying my hardest here to solve this problem. =(

Try entering the product key on the COA sticker under your battery,

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18630-product-key-number-change.html

That is for changing it but it will show you how and where to enter it to see if it fixes it.

It doesn't even have those hyperlink where you can click on and change it. Here is an attachment of the printscreen.

Try slui typed in start menu search, then activate now, when asked enter your product key from under the battery.
