Hello all,

I'll start by saying I'm not the most tech savvy person in the world, but I certainly will try to be responsive and follow directions.

Recently my computer started freezing up a bit during games and sometimes on internet pages - though I believe games were up at the same time. I've uploaded all my CPU information into my profile so that should help some. Additionally, I've done the following:

Device Manager - only 2 yellow '?' - one was a HD Audio Device which when searched Windows states it's up-to-date; the other is under Network Adapters - WAN Miniport (IKEv2) which Windows cannot locate or install.

System File Check Results: Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations

Critical Events: The following is a list of the critical events - all the same it appears

Critical 3/13/2014 8:35:09 PM Kernel-Power 41 (63)
Critical 3/13/2014 8:33:24 PM Kernel-Power 41 (63)

Critical 3/13/2014 4:52:48 PM Kernel-Power 41 (63)

And the details from the most recent:

I hope this baseline information helps. Of note, the game was a Steam Game - DOTA 2 - but I'm not sure that matters. I appreciate any feedback and really am thankful for any support you can offer.

Very respectfully,

I do have one question, what Kind and size of Power Supply do you have in your computer system? For what i know on the error you are giving in the above post it is normally given when the computer has an error when shutting down or restarts unexpectedly. Have you had the system restart unexpected or had issues shutting down? Also is all your drivers up to date, if not download your drivers from the manufacture.

Thanks

Thanks for the response. My power supply is as follows:

CORSAIR Professional Series HX850 (CMPSU-850HX) 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply – $165

As far as shutting down, typically it has been fine though there were a few instances where I "Reset" and it didn't come back on. That said, it happened after I had installed "Avast" which I have since removed and this issue is gone.

You have a big enough Power Supply to run your computer. Since you said there was a issue was created when you installed Avast you might have some remaining registry keys that may be causing some issues, although you could still have a problem with your power supply but i dont think so but theres still a chance. Try running CCleaner to clean out junk files on your hard drive and clean your registry as well. Also have you made sure ALL your drivers are up to date?

The only driver I haven't updated - and have been hesitant to do is my BIOS. I've read it's fairly simple - save to a thumb drive configured for FAT32 (I believe), go into ASUS bios and do - I believe - an update from EZ Flash 2. I was just afraid to mess things up. Other than that, all other drivers are up to date from what I can tell.

As for CC cleaner, I use that regularly so that aspect is good to go.

Thanks again for the help. Of note, I've not had the issue in about 24 hours or so. Perhaps some of the updating I've done has fixed things, but I was/am unsure so wanted to post here for you kind experts to look at and hopefully help this CPU noob :D

Be sure if it happens again to come back and ask for more help some one here will always be willing to help you out. It is hard to believe that something that is out of date that worked before could possibly create such a pain in the butt.
