CPU Massively Underperforming?

I've just been having a look at my CPU, its a Quad Core Q9550 2.83GHz.

Apparently, according to CoreTemp, my CPU frequency is going between 1999.75MHz and 2333.40MHz. So I don't know so much about CPUs so can anyone say whats wrong?

Hello there..

You probably have Intel SpeedStep enabled on the BIOS! that feature "underclocks" the processor when it's not under heavy use to save power.

If you Disable that feature, you'll see your processor running at full clock all the time, so it's nothing to be worried about!

I went to BIOS and disabled it, running 2836.4GHz now, thanks alot

I think that feature should still be enabled there is no Benefit from running the CPU at full speed if there is no need for it

I understand when you open cpuz it looks underclocked but belive me the performance is there

True, as i said, it underclocks the processor to save a little bit of power, it doesn't mean it won't perform the same way... just when needed, all i did was show the OP that his processor wasn't "acting funny"
