My CPU is a i7 3632qm and at time random cores will spike to 100% even if i close everything out and let it idles the problem persists until i shutdown and reboot.

While this is happening no page will load online. when I try to restart the it goes to the shutdown screen and just sits there and will not shut down. So I have to shut down using the power button.

I had those problems with my lappy for a while.

Try doing a full scan with Malwarebytes and afterwards with your regular AV program.

Make sure you have not installed any dubious apps (not original). Cracked dlls are known to generate those issues sometimes.

In my case it was malware and Malwarebytes took care of it.

Hope this helps,

Have you made any changes to System Configuration?

As Bungee18 has posted Malwarebytes Anti Malware may solve your problem.

Well, it happened again. Could a bad driver cause this? I had issues finding a good driver for my wifi when I installed W7.

Doesn't sound like a drive issue, but you could just uninstall it and see what happens.
Did you perform the full scan with Malwarebytes?
Cheers,
J

Please answer Bungee18 question.
Also check if all those updates included SP-1.

It's been a week since I have had any spikes! I would say installing the updates fixed it.

I did do the scan but it didnt find any thing.
