Hello, so randomly yesterday my cpu temps jumped to around 90c min and 90c max (way to high for what i have read) and that's at idle,

My pc:

Windows 7 64-bit

CPU: Amd phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.1GHz

GFX: 2 Amd radeon 6850's running through crossfire

8 gigs of ram

Motherboard: GA-870A-USB3

----------------------------------

This has happened to me once before a long time ago, i noticed it happening again when all my games starting getting really low fps and all chopy etc, i forget how i managed to fix it last time, but i know that it was something running in the background or something just cant remember what it was :( please if any of you guys/gals know what i could try to do that would really help me out!

Thanks,
Vaas

First thing is how are you checking your temps? I recommend installing SpeedFan, use it to check all your computers temps, CPU useage, and if supported fan speeds. If it shows that your CPU temp is still high and the CPU is being heavily used then investigate what is hogging it, otherwise check your fans to make sure they're spinning, and that your heatsinks are clean.

Your CPU is completely idle so nothing Windows is doing/running is at fault. If you use water cooling and the radiator fan is running fine then the next two things to check are your coolant level and that the cooling pump is pumping. Along with can't forget is make sure it is properly attached to the CPU.
EDIT: Also just to note, although right this time, generally it is safe to ignore the little flame icon, SpeedFan has way too low of a warning temp (50C I think?) and warns you too soon usually. So your CPU (Core) is very hot but still in an acceptable short term temperature range, I believe 95 or 100C is the max for that CPU before it shuts itself off. Also whatever Temp2 and Temp3 are are pretty hot too. But your GPU is acceptable despite the flame icon.

How about the air coming out of the radiator? Is it cool, warm, very hot? Have you done anything in the BIOS to disable the CPUs power saving features? You have almost the same CPU I had on an old gaming build of mine (AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition @3.4GHz) and when I disabled the power saving features in BIOS the temps skyrocketed. From an idle of 25-30C to 55-65C after it was running for awhile.
EDIT: It's called AMD Cool and Quiet and was listed in my BIOS as CPU Phase Control.

Please look at my specs again.
Then tick on your specs and then tick on (Update Your Specs)
You have a cooling problem.
What case do you use (air flow)
What cpu cooler and fans do you have?
What power supply do you have and just for the hell of it what Anti Virus program do you use?
**Are you over clocked?
Your temps of 77C is when the computer is under what load (%)?

He already added his computer information, he shows that his CPU is actually underclocked, possibly forced from thermal temps, and that he uses a water cooling system and that these are idle system temps.

Gosh this is annoying  thanks alot for the reply!

EDIT: i also heard somewhere that i should try to turn my Power setting on to " high performance " should i try that or no?

Then what about the cooling hoses going to and from the CPU? If they are both cool and/or even in temperature then I believe you have a failing cooling pump, only able to move just enough coolant to keep the computer from shutting down.

He states in his OP that it is running at 2.1GHz, but that model CPU is rated for 3.2GHz. EDIT: And yes that's what I see, when he started this thread all he had written was Windows 7 64bit.
