Crackling white noise sound when connecting Laptop to TV

I have an Asus k53E laptop and a Marantz TV. Everytime I try to connect the tv and laptop togethervia a HDMI lead I get picture perfectly fine but there is a loud crackling/white noise sound as soon as the lead is in both tv and laptop.

I have tried several leads, enabled audio in the device manager. I am at a loss! PLEASE HELP??? :)

Jnellz, Welcome to SF.To me this sounds like a poor connection or connector issue. Trying other cables you've eliminated the cable and that leaves the termination points or worse. Did this connection ever work properly?
