My system crashes after the first startup of the day, usually less than 15 minutes of running. It can crash in three different ways, system freeze, system just shuts down or BSOD memory dump. The wrinkle here is that, after I boot it back up, I have no further problems. The system runs fine. So far, I cannot narrow it down to any application, or driver. I did update my mouse driver, but the system can crash if it just sits there. If I walk away it will die in a short while. I had the same problem when running Vista Home Premium and it followed me when I upgraded through the HP upgrade offer. I don't get a lot from event viewer, but here is the one thing I could find. I've attached my system info; thanks for your time.

Open a command prompt as an admin and enter the following pressing the enter key after each line:

net stop winmgmt
DEL C:\Windows\System32\wbem\Repository\*.*

Now reboot and let the system idle for a few minutes. There will be a couple of WMI warnings in the event log, but thats alright for the moment. Reboot one more time and the error and warning will hopefully be resolved

Thanks for your replies. Basically, the problem is the hardware. I have an HP Pavillion e9180t which has a serious flaw in the build. Most likely, the crashes, BSOD and freezes are all due to a cheap motherboard, from Pegatron. HP says they are looking into it, but all the posts on HP's forum are full of grim reports on this machine. Thousands of customers have been caught by this problem. I have sent my machine back once for a repair and I've rebuilt the operating system from the recovery disks, twice. Until HP can come up with a solution, and who knows when that will be, the best work around is to boot the machine cold, let it come up and after a few minutes do a warm boot, restart.

regards,
