Hello,
I had a bsod yesterday whilst gaming and followed your instructions concerning the set up of sf diagnostics and crash dump files etc.
however, my laptop is now crashing with no bsod. I am just getting a complete power down and the laptop is turning off. Usually with the bsod it reboots but It's remaining off now.
I had a problem with a previous laptop and you guys where great.
Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated, many thanks
Dave

A complete shut down with no error, at least off the top of my head, sounds like an overheating problem.

could it have something to do with the ac adapter perhaps? that's a little warm. I'll try gaming without it

No, the AC adapter shouldn't have anything to do with it, per my experience the power brick is always warm.

Hi Shadow,
Having looked at other heating posts I am convinced you are correct (as you probably already knew).
I have downloaded and run the SpeedFan program and the gpu is at 57c with a little red warning flame.
I am only running internet explorer while I get this reading.
Is there a way to fix this or do I need a new gpu?

If you are an advanced user, you can always open up the laptop and clean out the fans, using canned air or however you feel most comfortable. Otherwise I would suggest investing in a cooling pad for your laptop that will help push air through the system and keep it all cool, this option has prolonged the life of a couple old laptops I use just for fun.

Something like this will do just fine:

Amazon.com: Cooler Master NotePal X-Slim Ultra-Slim Laptop Cooling Pad with 160mm Fan (R9-NBC-XSLIA-GP): Computers & Accessories
