Crash on Hibernate

I purchased a netbook (Gateway LT2104u a/k/a acer ao532h) running Windows 7 basic. Overall, I like the netbook, but one problem that I can't live with is that it crashes on hiberantion. The screen goes dark as if it's hibernating, and then after about 10 seconds, it makes a clicking noise, going dead. When I reboot, it tells me that the system was not shut down properly and asks me if I want to start in safe mode, etc. I've updated the bios and drivers, but to no avail. The windows logs don't seem helpful, but maybe that's because I have limited knowledge. Anyway, I'm getting to the end of my rope, and I'm thinking of just returning the netbook. I've zipped and attached the systems diagnostics report and the jcgriff2 folder generated from the recommended program. If anyone has a solution, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Please post, per these instruction. I think that you did not follow step 2 and there is no dump report.

Thanks for the prompt response. I did follow those instructions, and looking at the file I uploaded, it appears that both items are there (the dump report from the jcgriff program is a folder with a series of files and an html from the system health report). Am I still missing something?

Got it. My system is set to generate it, but I don't think there is one because there was no BSOD.

Clicking noise!

I would go to the website of the Hard Drive manufacturer and test that hard drive. Clicking is called the tick of death, when comes from HD.

Thanks for the idea. I don't think it's the drive. I downloaded and completed the advanced test on my drive, and it's supposedly working perfectly. Also, that tick only comes up as the machine switches off/crashes during hibernate. Any other ideas? Do the files I uploaded imply anything else?

Those files gives us, basically background information on RAM, Windows Edition, etc. One report shows that you are not secure, but that is a know bug in the system. If you are not using Microsoft Security Essentials, you are warned that you are not protected. Just be sure that you have a good anti virus.

As far as the crashes.

Go to device manager check for yellow warnings for cards or drivers
Make sure your graphics driver is up to date

If just started, use system restore to return to good times

This has been a problem from the get go (so nothing to restore), and there are no warnings on the devices. All of the drivers (including graphics) are up to date.

I think I'm just going to have to return the system
