I've been trying to chase this issue for quite some time now. Randomly I experience a crash to desktop when playing Battlefield 2. Doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason, just bam!

The only thing I can spot in the logs is one in system saying: (Happens Everytime)
"The PnkBstrB service entered the stopped state."

There is also one that will show in the app log saying: (Happens once in awhile)
"Faulting application name: bf2.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4a8d6629
Faulting module name: Memory.dll, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x497ec791

Report Id: 23819cc8-73cc-11e1-a8f9-000854b19d94"

I've attached the needed dumps as requested. Hope someone out there can help.

System:
Win7 Pro x64
AMD Athlon 6000
Nvidia 8800 GTS x2
onboard sound
cant remember the board.

I am wondering if you shouldn't re-install BF2 and see if that resolves the problem.

If the above do not resolve the issue:

Well, I...

- uninstalled security essentials
- ran fix for event 10
- completely uninstalled / re-installed bf2

Same event. Crash to desktop with the lingering event in the system stating that PnkBstrB service has entered a stopped state.

I'll try the clean startup...

Let me know if you have any other solutions...

You did not state whether you re-installed Microsoft Security Essentials. I do not recommend running without security software installed.

Let us know if the clean startup resolves the crashes. I'll try to think of some more steps in the meantime in case that does not work.
