Creating a bootable win7 disk without iso with other OS

I understand that there have been raised many similar threads, but i believe that my case is yet something different.

This is my story...
It has been a while since i have downloaded the RC version of win 7 (i don't know witch exactly was..7000,7100, don't know). And somehow i have extracted the iso content to install it on a virtual machine. Now i've deleted everything and want to make a clean install of win 7. So i'm stuck with these extracted files that, normally, written on a dvd are not sufficient to boot! Or at least that's happening: it doesn't boot from the dvd.

I tried to add them again to a iso archive and then wrote them on dvd again, but in vain. The problem was still there.

I don't know what i'm doing wrong. Maybe i don't have all the files, maybe i've lost some of them. Uf, wish i didn't. Maybe you can tell me.
The files and folders that i have are: boot, efi, sources, support, upgrade, autorun.inf, bootmgr, setup.exe.

Thank you in advance !
Btw, yes bios is set to boot from the cd-drive first.
I wrote my pc specs when i registered, so i gues i don't have to write them again here... but if that's not the way to expect to be done then tell me and i'll write them explicitly here .

What did you use to burn the ISO? Something like powerISO has a checkbox to make it bootable.

No , with Brasero. But i did not see such of a checkbox there. I know that i have burned other bootable iso OS', but those where original iso archives, and they worked. Can you recommend some other disk burners for linux ubuntu till i find some on the web?

I use windows apps powerISO, ultraISO, etc. Power seems easiest to me

Yes, i'm trying it now(powerIso). I just didn't knew that wine would support it.

So, now it asks me to select the boot information source which i don't have it. Any suggestions?

When it asks for boot information source, you could try picking up the ETFSBOOT.COM file in the 7 files - it's in the Boot folder.

Only a few apps. can make that work.

Well, i can not yet try that because powerISO on linux doesn't see the dvd-rom. But i know for sure that it asks for a .bif (boot information file). I found some guy on other forums saying that he got it going with "GB1CULXFRE_EN_DVD.bif"but the source where he got it is no longer available.
So maybe there is here someone who has it and can pass it to me via email?

So that's pretty much what i can come up with for now (.
Btw, it's a 32 bit.

Sorry Alexandru, but just downloading the iso from MS website and burning it to a DVD with whatever program, wouldn't that just do? I might have misunderstood, but all you want is to do a clean install, right? Just a simple install DVD should suffice

Don't think MS is still doing the download.

I'm sure someone can post the boot image he is after.

Not so sure it will work for him - you need the licensed version of PowerIso to create/edit images over 300mb.

You are right, I completely forgot about that "detail". Please disregard my post.

Alexandru, I have a few DVDs with the RC, I can mail one to you if you are interested. You just need a key. PM me if you are

Generous of you to offer to mail it - he might be thousands of miles away.

One could always try googling on Ixquick.

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.
