Creating a copy of Windows 7 from initial bootup

I was told I could create a copy of windows 7 from initial bootup when turning on my HP Pavilion dv7t notebook by either pushing f8 or f11? Can someone please tell which is the proper key and how to do it from there? I already have the dual layer disc to burn it on, but can I burn it from the cd burner in the computer or an external cd burner(I have one of those as well). This computer has not been turned on yet.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I dont think you can create an ISO to burn from a live OS. F8 is safe boot, that just boots without startup apps, F11 is setup on your machine I believe.

If you tell us what you are trying to do we might be able to help

You would use Win7 Backup imaging app to save a backup image of your HD to a primary formatted partition, and/or externally in case of HD failure. It is too large to store on DVD's.
