Solved Creating a shortcut to "turn off display"

I want to automate four steps to change the time it takes to turn off the display. I do this at least twice a day. Instead of going through the four steps: personalize, screen saver, change power settings, change when the computer sleeps and then turn off display, I made a new shortcut and copied the line on top [screenshot enclosed] which made the target C:\Windows\System32\control.exe Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings. I clicked it but it didn't work. Any idea how to create the shortcut? I change this at least twice daily.

Hello pxfragonard,

If you like, you could create two separate power plan shortcuts (ex: High Performance and Balanced) using the tutorial below. Afterwards, change the settings in these power plans to what you want, and have the "Turn off display" set differently in each power plan. This way you could quickly change power plans by clicking on the shortcut for what power plan settings you want to use at the time.

To make it easier to create the shortcut, you should use one of the default power plans, but you can change their settings to anything you like though.

You know, I tried this and it worked brilliantly until I had some trouble that HP or Windows diagnosed as being because I was on a low power plan (same sleep schedule, different "lights out") Does that make sense?

Is there a way to just create a shortcut to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings and keep it on the taskbar?

I suppose the low power plan was restricting it to much.

Sure, if you like, there's an advanced Power Options shortcut that you could use.

But... hmm... I tried it and it's not quite what I wanted. I'm enclosing a pic. I'd like to place what's in the pic if possible on the taskbar permanently and have it there when I start up the computer. That would be really cool... but I don't know how to program. Wondering if it's even possible.

Yup. I found the manual shortcut method got me one click away from what I wanted and that's pretty darned good compared to what it took before.
