Creating a System Image to an External HD -- Issues with Win 7 Pro 64

I am using Win 7 Pro 64. I have an external 1TB HD that works perfectly. I use it to backup data. My Win 7 "Disk Management" says the disk is healthy. I just scanned it with Malwarebytes Antimalware -- no issues, no infections. It's clean.

Here is the issue: When I attempt to create a system image -- using Windows 7 -- and select my 1TB HD as the target, it says that the drive is "corrupt." I do have other saved folders on the target disk. Is it possible that Window 7 is looking for a target that has no other data?

Here is the screen capture of my Disk Management analysis of the 1TB HD -- showing that it is as healthy as a horse:

So, sports fans, what is the problem and what is the solution?

Thanks for your help.

Louis

I installed Macrium Reflect and created a drive image -- saved to my external HD -- and then created a rescue disk on a DVD. No problems.

I will run chkdsk on the drive, but, as noted above, the drive runs perfectly in every respect. It's "health" -- just as Windows 7 Disk Management says.

I ran a chkdsk on my external 1TB HD. When finished the prompt said it found some errors that it fixed and those could be found on the HD in a file labelled "FOUND." When I went to the external HD, there is no file called "FOUND."

I any event, my external HD is operating as it should and is "Health" according to Win 7 "Disk Management." I don't think I'll continue to fool around with it.

You are much better off to use Macrium Reflect instead of Windows Backup. Macrium is very dependable and I have never had a problem either Imaging or Restoring.
