Creating an association in the default control panel for Outlook mail

Title is basically my question?

I have Windows 7/64 Professional, Outlook mail and Firefox and can't attach any files to send via e-mail.

I get the popup: "There is no e-mail program associated to perform the requested action. Create an association in the Default Programs control panel."

I went into the "Set Defaults Programs" >> clicked "Windows Contacts" >> Choose defaults for this program >> Set Program Associations >> But there are four programs listed that don't mention Outlook or mail?

So not sure which program I should be clicking on or click all four programs? Or ...?

Any help appreciated, thanks, Win 7.

I also went into the Registry Editor >> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_Software\Clients\Mail\Microsoft Outlook >> opened these links but did not see Outlook mail, but saw Hotmail and Windows Mail with a few other folders under each one.

I wasn't sure what to do at this point so I did nothing (better safe than sorry), but prefer not to create an e-mail association via the registry if I can avoid it or unless I get good advice from someone with more knowledge on the issue than I.

Thanks for replying to my post.

My Windows mail is not shared and I don't see wldcore.dll anywhere?

I see Hotmail and several of its sub-folders in the registry editor. I also see Windows Mail and 4 of its sub-folders in the registry editor. But again, I see no wldcore.dll anywhere?

If your tampering with the Registry Editor your either a genius or a fool. My previous image shows where the file to be copied is located.

I am neither a "genius nor a fool", but smart enough to acknowledge my computer technical knowledge limits and try to get assistance from those with more knowledge than I, as I stated above and below.

If you want to refer to Microsoft's professional computer techs as being "genius's" maybe that would be more appropriate. As that is where I got the information from to make modifications to the registry to create an e-mail association.

As to your your "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Shared and copy wldcore.dll"

This is what I did: Local Disk(c>>Program Files(x86)>>Windows Mail>> and did not see Windows Live or Shared or wldcore.dll in the list of dll files?

So again, not sure what to do at this point?

What version of Outlook are you using.

I meant no disrespect calling you a genius or a fool. I was unaware of the other help you were getting.
Now go back and look at my image and do as it says, not as you claimed to have done.
