Hi, I have a small problem. I replaced the Recon3D drivers with the Microsoft HD Compatible Audio drivers that Windows automatically gets since I personally hate the drivers and THX control panel that Creative used on this chipset (it's an integrated soundcard btw). It sounded great, at least better than the metallic sound I got with the "proper drivers". Problem is that this morning it decided to stop working, and when I updated the drivers it automatically installed the Recon3D drivers again. Is there any way to force windows to install and use the Microsoft HD Audio Driver?

The Windows installed drivers are only basic function drivers. The motherboard drivers are usually the best. I have a gigabyte motherboard with RealTek audio. It also came with Creative SoundBlaster MB, which is a software enhancement to the RealTek. However I only installed the RealTek audio drivers, I didn't install the optional SoundBlaster MB addition. Can't you do that with your sound drivers?

That's what it did yesterday. Automatically installed the drivers without the control panel. Unfortunately the sound was just awful. Managed to reinstall the Microsoft ones. And I prefer the basic function drivers because at least they reproduce sound as they should. Even without the control panel the Recon3D drivers make everything sound muffled regardless of the volume.
