mickeyfn19,
You need to post all your spec's for us to help you especially the mobo spec's. If you got to the mobo mfgr's site and download the mobo manual you can look up the beep codes and that should help tons.

But this mobo has uefi. I thought uefi has a different POST. Does the beeping happen when booting or when the os is loaded?

It sounds like it could be beeping after the boot which is a whole new realm for me ! I'm hoping I'm wrong and the beeps are at boot.

nope, i do get standard beeps at boot and then when its all fired up it randomly starts beeping away. could it be down to me putting too fast memory in? mobo supports 2133mhz i have 2400mhz, althopugh i thought it would just get dragged down by the mobo? i checked the manual to see if i put them in the right dimm slots and yes they are in the right ones.

Mickey you may have 2400 in and it may support 2133 but unless you overclocked the ram you likely have very expensive 1333 or 1600 speeds at the moment.

Do you have any hardware diagnostics software like CoreTemp? If you do, they might be what is making the beeps. These software usally have alarms for temperature and other things.

So your ram is running at 2133mhz or trying to and that's very good if stable? Getting the full speed levels out of ram can take some time and will have limits related to mobo and cpu and other factors.

yes, was a little miffed at first as cpuz said it was running at 1066. then i was told i needed to multiply by 2 as it is dual channel. so pretty please with that. i emailed gigabyte a few days ago and i just got a reply. they said "Dear Sir,

Does the system POST or boot up?

If not please try to reset the CMOS -
1) Disconnect the power cord from the power supply. Remove the CMOS battery (the flat silver disk) from the motherboard using a srew drive or similar implement. Leave it out for a minute or two, then replace it and power on the system. The BIOS settings should have been reset, allowing the computer to boot.
2) Go into the BIOS - “Load optimized default”
3) Save settings and exit.

do you guys reckon i should give that a go. i wouldnt think that would make any difference as i was running to completely stock, i hadnt tampered with the bios when i was getting the beeps.

Removing the battery will just return any changes like the ones for the ram you just made back to factory stock levels. If you don't mind feeling your way carefully around the bios and changing the ram speed back then go for it.
