I am running Win 7 RC 7100 x64 and will be installing Win 7 Pro in a couple weeks. I have a Creative X-fi PCI card. It's the OEM card from Ailenware. (got it @ Micro Center for $10) Ailenware's site only has a Vista x64 driver which will not install on Win 7. The driver from MS update is installed and I do have audio, however the Creative control panel will not work. When I try to start it, it says "no compatible device found" and then closes. Everything works great when I use Vista x64 but I can't seem to get it right on 7. I tried downloading the driver in the sticky but when I click download it sends me to another page. Anyone know how I can force the Ailenware driver to install or maybe another link to dl the driver in sticky? Or maybe a way to get the Control panel to recognize the device. I really only want the control panel for loudness equalization. Many of my MP3s have different degrees of loudness. Often, when it shuffles to a new song, the volume goes from decent to ear bleeding level and sometimes drops to barely audible. Any ideas welcome. Thanks.

You can go directly to the creative site and grab drivers for your card specifically and they will work just fine. The manufacturer drivers usually work the best if you can use them but creative has drivers that will work just fine on their page.

I actually had to get the drivers from the creative site when I installed 7100 32bit because my discs were just to old. If i install from the discs I have issues until I update to the latest drivers. So now I have made a habit of just grabbing the latest drivers right from creative and so far it works every time.

I am using the X-Fi Fatal1ty card in this machine and an X-Fi Platinum in the second machine.

Might be easier to pull the card and make note of the model number (will be something like SBxxxx), post it back and then we can point you to the correct driver for the card.

OK. I figured it out. I installed the X-Fi support pack from your link. Console, Control Panel etc. still didn't work. Did some more reading and discovered a post about uninstalling everything, running Driver Sweeper then installing driver. I did that and now everything is running fine. I do this religiously with my video drivers but forgot about doing it for sound drivers. Thank you very much for your help.

BTW the card is a Creative SB X-Fi OEM SB077x PCI (Hendrix models for Dell, HP, Gateway, Lenovo, Fujitsu-Siemens, Alienware and others)
