Does this sound card take normal 2.1 speakers and not hi fi speakers etc

Yes, you can use standard 2.1 Computer Speakers. You need powered speakers (ones that have their own built in power amplifier). Standard Hi Fi or Stereo Speakers do not have built in amplifiers and will not work (or if they do it will be very low volume).

Hi Thanks for the reply,im a bit ignorant when it comes to things like this,my logitech x-230s have a plug so are powered,does this mean im ok if i get the sound card?

They should work without problems. The plug goes into the GREEN speaker jack on the PC.
