Hi there.

I have very strange kind of problem happened to my father's PC.
This PC has Creative SB Live! 24-bit and Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

I have installed latest available drivers from Creative website and Creative P17X Support Pack.
So what have I noticed:

  1. Subwoofer is working. I can hear it using channel test.
  2. Subwoofer is working while audio is playing using jetAudio (but there is no sound from side speaker)
  3. Subwoofer is not working using ANY other audio source, such as Winamp, foobar2000 and, what is the most strange, Creative MediaSource5 Organizer
  4. Subwoofer is connected correctly. I have seen a lot of advises like "check your connection"

This problem wasn't noticed on Windows XP with this sound card.

Bass Redirection is enabled in Creative Entertainment Console, but there is no option to enable/disable it in Creative Audio Control Panel.

I hope you are able to help me.

Best regards, Mikhail.

What speaker system is connected? If it is a 2.1 speaker system (two small speakers and a bass speaker) there is only one connection to the speaker system and internally in the speaker system (usually in the bass speaker) is the electronics that controls the audio distribution to the speakers. With a 2.1 speaker system, the sound card just feeds all the audio through the one connection to the speaker system, it doesn't differentiate between bass and other frequencies, that is done in the speaker system.

Oh, sorry. I forgot to mention that the sound system is 7.1.

Is this old sound card FULLY Windows 7 compatible. It is a relatively old card, originally designed for Windows XP. Windows 7 handles some sound functions differently than XP did and can cause issues, either hardware or software or how the media player is handled.
