Hi,

I have Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit external. I've installed Win7 beta drivers from creative. com (1.01.0092). But no sound is comming form subwoofer. When I open creative audio control panel I don't have bass redirection tab, like in WinXP. Did anyone have the same problem?
Thanks

I have the same problems

I also do not have any sound from my subwoofer when I play normal music. When I'm watching TV and the station supports 5.1 sound then all is ok. It's only stereo musik where it does not work.

Any ideas?

hi guys and welcome to sevenforums,

i haven't got a soundblaster, but an x-fi, so the advice below may be useless to you!

try downloading the 'creative console launcher' instead - it's very much like the audio control panel, but prettier and has a few more comtrols in it - you can find it somewhere on the creative site, in the downloads section. that has an 'enable bass redirection', crossover frequency and subwoofer gain buttons (and a decent eq too).

make sure you also have 5.1 selected in the windows sound control panel too...

and bitbauer, do you use CMSS-3D? set it to stereo surround, and that should wake up your woofer, and rear speakers too, if you play with the stereo envelopment slider.

as i said above, all this would work for an x-fi, not sure about soundblaster live...

Thank you for your reply!

I don't think the 'Creative Console Launcher' will work with the SB Live card. But perhaps I've found another unsupported way. I've found the Soundblaster Live! Series Support Pack 1.5 for Windows 7. I am going to give it a try this evening.

Sorry switched back to Windows XP...

...untill there ist support for the SB24 Live Card in Windows 7. Windows 7 works ok and the speed is also ok but on my MediaCenter (Pentium M 1,7 Ghz) Windows-XP ist still faster. And DVBViewer suits me better although the support for my HTPC was excellent under Windows 7. I'll give it a try again in a few month perhaps...

On external it didn't worked, I hope Creative will launch a driver soon

I've installed the Vista drivers from the CD in compatibility mode, and now only the two front speakers work, great, I can't even uninstall them...

Edit: I have just played Combat Arms and there the subwoofer works fine, I'm confused.

I have a Sound Blaster Live ! 24-bit (internal) bouth in 2004 and when I tryed to install the drivers from the cd W7 told me that there is no SB hardware detected. I installed the W7 drives from Creative and I got the famous problem with the dead subwoffer (5.1)... So after about 3 weeks of searching solutions I finnaly nailed it ! :p
I installed W7 like normal and deactivated the "automatic update" because it always updated the audio card  ...... so after that I uninstalled the driver from device manager, inserted the cd and installed the drivers and control panel like on XP. Done ! The sound is the same and it works with XP drivers :shock::shock: o.O

I Found a solution

After reading the previous post, I've deactivated Windows Auto-Update, uninstalled the Sound Blaster drivers (SB24 Live!) from Device Manager and installed the old drivers from 2004 manually, hitting the have disk button and then installing using setup.exe from the disc itself.. and.. it worked !!!

Because they are the same crap release from october 2009!
To solve the problem deactivate Windows Auto-Update, go to Device Manager and uninstall the Sound Blaster drivers (SB24 Live!). Then get the CD with the old drivers from Creative and install them manually, meaning that you have to choose manually when asked to instal, after that you have to hit the have disk button and then browse from the CD an get the driver itself. Windows will recognise them after a short while of thinking. After that you can go to setup.exe from the CD and install the rest of the packages, but only after installing the drive first! otherwise it will generate an error..

Good luck!

p.s. you may experience some windows crashes with blue screen at first, but don't worry because it will fix itself, also remembrer when you update windows, always uncheck the drivers for the sound card!

I just uninstalled the new drivers for w7, OPENED the original creative cd and hit setup.exe. Then all instelled like on XP (Media source bla bla bla).
About the blue screen: it does that when I try to enter the SB microphone but I switched the mic to the integrated sound card (Realteck.....) If you installed the drivers and software successfully then you can activate the bass redirection from the control panel like you would do on XP

I tried your solution, but I wasn't successful. I installed the old driver for XP which is on the CD, then I ran setup.exe from CD. Everthing seemed fine, but when I tried to open creative sound manager (or whatever it's called) I got an error message saying something like "no supported sound card found". It really starts to piss me off:mad:

it's ok

Try opening the Creative Sorround Mixer, it should be ok. I get an error when i want to open the old volume controller from creative, now I use the volume from win7.

Anyway, when opening the mixer You can configure the sound card and it should work just fine!

p.s. look in device manager to see if the driver is called: Sound Blaster Live! -24 bit
If it is somethin like SB-24 Live.. then it's the new driver so you have to uninstall it and try again.

doesn't work...

Hi,

it it still doesn't work... I have the old driver installed (driver info: publisher: creative technology ltd., date: 10.6.2004) however I received during the installation error message "A service installation section in this INF is invalid". And I still can't open any creative modules (surround mixer, speaker settings,...). I really dont know what else to try:(

Try uninstalling the drivers again, then install them manually from the CD, and then hit setup.exe .. I don't know what else to tell you, I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate and I struggled a lot to make it worked, but eventually the setup.exe worked..

So, all I can say is try again, maybe you are missing something..

I tried it like hundred times, installing uninstalling drivers all over again and always the same error... You didn't received any error messages while you were installing the driver itself?

As I remember windows didn't install the old driver when I clicked the Browse for driver.. it did not recognize the driver at all. Only when i clicked the Pick the driver manually (have disk) the system installed it. Then I ran the setup.exe from the cd without any errors.

So the ideea is that i never received errors because windows never recognized the driver, and when it did, it worked without problems.
