Crystal disk info displays yellow health status external hdd

Hi

I own a Seagate 1TB external desktop hard drive which i had since October 2009.

It still functions however i stopped using this because it made loud disturbing noises.

I got it up and running today only because i was running out of space on another external.

I came across crystal disk info the other day and once i had this external hooked up it showed this yellow caution sign.

Question is can it be saved?

There is nothing on this drive.

In 2015 i had created some backup of this external using bootice software (with jumanji's help). I was wondering if maybe bootice could cure the drives problem? I have forgotten how to use bootice now.

I know drives will die out at some point.

Sounds like Crystal Disk Info is reporting bad SMART data from the drive which means the drive is going bad. So don't depend on this drive.

If you want a good reputable platter, check out a 2 TB or larger enterprise grade Hitachi. I own two 2 TB enterprise platters with over 21,000 hours of use and still going strong. And get this. I bought both on eBay a few years ago used and appeared to be used as a RAID setup. Since I knew these drives were good I didn't mind if they were used.

Crystal disk reports SMART diag.
If you find bad clusters, bad blocks, bad sectors etc, the disk is dying.
As it made loud disturbing noises, discard it.
