ctf loader

hi all, I cannot find the answer to this anywhere. I have a week old install of 64 bit 7 home premium. It's a games pc with a 400 gig steam folder, WoW, Rift, etc.
I run nothing from strat up except windows services, avast and creative drivers.
I have never had any microsoft office gear installed, I do however run libreoffice.
Occassionally, maybe once a day I notice ctfmon.exe*32 running in avasts auto sandbox and in task manager, tracing the file C:Windows\syswow64\ctfmon.exe.

what is it?

I run hitman pro and malwarebytes as scanners they cant find anything?

I would check if the file is located outside of Windows\System32, which is where it should be located, anything outside of that sounds suspicious though malwarebytes should have found something i would think.

Also, ctfmon.exe isnt just for office. Are you running any additional languages?

Go to Control Panel, choose Regional and Language, the click on the Keyboards and Languages tab, select “Change keyboards”. You should see them all there if you want to check.

hi, yeah all the languages are in there. I just reinstalled, im sure ctfmod wasnt running, and quite sure the other languages were not there either!

also a bit confusing running ctfmon.exe*32 from the syswow64 file?

My appolgies, its late, i was looking at my 32 bit system when i typed that. Ignore that part, So when you look at installed services all the languages are there? if so ctfmon.exe is will be running because you hav all those keyboard layouts installed.

reassuring thanks. It's probably always been there. I have only recently used avast av. it auto sandboxes programs if they are a possible risk, apparently it sandboxes this one because it injects into windows core.
