Curious about 64 bit

I built my PC about 3 years ago.

The Mother Board is a Gigabyte G41M-ES2L Socket 775.
The CPU is an Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200 2.2Ghz 1MB 800Mhz

Is there any reason with this combination that I can NOT run a 64 bit OS??

quick googling indicates that the CPU supports 64-bit (but really even my current old rig and most netbooks I've seen allow 64-bit).

Mobo allows 8 gigs max of RAM.

So yes, it should run a 64 bit OS just fine.

Even though my Mother Board can only take 4 gb ram, I did think I could run 64 bit with a duel cpu.

Plenty of x2 cores are 64-bit compatible, from both sides of the fence (Intel/AMD). Boba is right, too; you're board can support 8GB RAM, not 4GB, with the 4GB limitation more to do with 32-bit versions of Windows. If you were to install 64-bit, you'd be able to clamp an extra 4GB in there

your motherboard can go up to 8 gb of RAM, according to their site. Only 64 bit can use more than 4 gb of ram.

The CPU you have can run at 64 bit, as I said.

It should be able to run Win 7 x64.

Your Motherboard supports up to 8GB Ram. At the moment you have 4GB Installed, Windows 64bit will utilize the 4GB of Memory, So you will Benefit by using Windows 64bit.

You won't get all 4Gb available as some will be used by the onboard video card but it should still be marginally better that 32bit. But then memory is cheap now even if you have only two RAM sockets two x 4Gb modules are still reasonable!

Of course u can run 64-bit os ....... 32-bit doesn't even gives u 4GB usable . . . .
64-bit optimized applications will give much better performance and plus you will be able to use 32-bit applications as well . . . .
SO 64-bit is much better if you have like 4GB ram . . .
