First time here, hurray!

Anyways, I've had this problem with my mouse since I upgraded to windows 7.
Whenever I'm playing a game, or anything fullscreen and I right click or click the middle mouse button, the cursor jumps across my screen, sometimes down or to the left. and sometimes, both.

I want to avoid buying a new mouse. Any suggestions?

Hi! Scraggarax, welcome to 7F :)

Have you checked your pointer settings in Control Panel\mouse\pointer options?

Make sure snap-to is un-checked, and you may want to set the pointer motion to about half-way....on the slider bar.

Double checked. They are both set that way, still the same effect.
This only happens when a game is ran. Even if it's in a window.

In the meantime.........

Some things to try:

Shiny mousing surface like glass or highly polished wood? Try a dark solid color mousepad.
Using a patterned mousepad? Try a dark solid color mousepad.
Or if your mousing surface isn't shiny, don't use a mousepad at all.

Make sure the laser is clean. Use a burst of compressed air to clean around the laser.
Mechanical mouse, open the trackball cover, and clean the ball with Isopropyl alcohol. make sure guide bars inside have no gunk on them.

Third-party software that could possibly interfere with the mouse? Possibly something relating to the graphical desktop environment? Theming software?

Update your video card drivers. If you have an OEM machine (HP, Dell, Gateway etc.) get the drivers from the OEM's website. Or if Nvidia or ATI, get drivers from their website.

Same problem

I know this thread is a bit old, but I have exactly the same problem. Something I noticed: It's only when running game applications that use the DirectX 11 renderer, when playing the game in DirectX 9 mode the mouse functions normally, but I have reduced graphics.

I only get this problem when right clicking in DirectX 11 games, and the mouse always jumps down and to the left at a 45 degree angle.

Not exactly sure if it will work, but you can try to disable the Windows 7 Aero desktop:

1: Right click on your desktop
2: Click personal preferences
3: Scroll down till you see the Windows 7 Basic theme (usually bottom left)
4: Select it :)

I had this exact problem, it wasn't my mouse settings, or my mouse at all. It turned out to be that I had out dated graphics card drivers, and a bad graphics card.

My question is;

Does it ONLY do this in a specific game? Can you post your computer specs?

CPUID - HWMonitor or the CPU-Z will work for giving you specific stats. Post some of the images, to help us ascertain the issue.

SF is amazing!
thanks for trying to help guys
to Tonsgaard i will say yes i tried this, i just'd forgoteen to mention
i tryed basic team with both videocards and all resolutions

to DreadStarX: yes, i've said that i updated all videodrivers (perhaps i need to roll back to some drivers of ~2010-2012)

what for games, i've already experienced such a problem with some game i dont rememer the name (i didnt want to play it much and i just uninstalled, but i want to play fallout 3 so much). many games i played from those times were all good.
perhaps my problem has somethng to do with dx11. during investigation on the issue i've seen some posts, stating that problem is only exists when people are using dx11, but when they switch to dx9, all is good. but fallout 3 cant be switched to dx9 (anyway if it could it will have reduced graphics.. which is not good)

Okay I checked up on some possible solutions which you can try:

(Try these things one at a time, see if anything works/helps)
A: If you are in a game and have the option, try to disable "hardware cursor"
B: Right click desktop > screen resolution > make text and other items larger or smaller > make sure text is set to 100%
C: Open task manager > locate wisptis.exe (if it's there) > right click it > set priority "normal"
D: Same as above, but set priority "low"
E: Press Windows Key + R > type services.msc > look for "Tablet PC Input Service" > right click > properties > check "disabled" in the startup box > click apply and then OK
F: Do the same if you have any other tablet services running
G: If you have any "Wacom" drivers installed, try to remove them completely (via. control panel)
H: Open control panel > mouse > pointer options > disable "enhance pointer precision"
I: If you have "WhatPulse", try uninstalling or disabling it
J: If your mouse comes with a driver, make sure the driver is updated to the latest version
K: Update other drivers, not only graphics drivers
L: If you have "Mumble", check this video out: (Fixed) Mouse cursor reset bug with mumble(overlay) - YouTube
M: If you have "7+ Taskbar Tweaker", try uninstalling or disabling it
N: If you have "Winamp", try uninstalling or disabling it
O: In task manager, disable "MouseHid.exe" if it's there

The most common cause for this seems to be if you have had a tablet connected to your PC, so check up everything related to a tablet if you have.

Hope it helps :)

thanks!
none of these helped but (SHAME ON ME IT WAS SO LATE!!) accidentally i remembered that i have application "vista switcher", i've used to it so much that i didnt even think about it, in the time i tried everithing: unloading programs, services, drivers..
now it will take some effort to bring all needed things back.. but thanks! without you i'd not have fo3 working (=
it's so frustraiting omg.. i could just ctrl+shift+esc and unload vistaswitcher.exe and thats all, but i've spent so much time having sex with my software of all kinds. positive thing is that i switched off all odd services and drivers tho. i was wanting to do that for a long time ((%
