Hello

Cursor in Windows 7 64bit spinning non-stop.

I opened Task Manager, clicked on "Processes" Tab, and then CPU. The program with a continuous high reading (86 To 90) is "System file Process," User Name: "SYSTEM."

Can anyone tell me how to stop this?

Thanx.

How often does it happen? Have you tried restarting your computer?

Hi livingem,

You may want to check if the 'cursor style' is changed from the default 'arrow' to the 'busy cursor'. Go to 'Control Panel' > 'Mouse' > 'Pointers' > Set settings back to default

If the issue persists, please share the following details:
- What program are you using when the cursor misbehaves? Is it a browser 'Internet Explorer / Mozilla Firefox'?
- How often does this happen?
- Does the computer freeze up at that time? Are you able to move the 'rotating cursor' to other parts of the screen?
- Did you scan the system to check for 'virus infection'? If no, please do it and share results.

You've also referred to a 'process' that consumes majority of 'system resources'. Did you try killing that process? Does that fix the cursor issue?

Hello
Dinesh - yes it continues after i reboot my computer. the busy cursor last for 7 seconds at 18-second intervals: 7 seconds busy, 18 seconds still. it does this continuously.
Saurahb A - the default cursor has not changed, but while checking this out, i realized that the curson for a program "working in the backgrounfd" is what i am seeing. there is a program that is continually seeking, and it appears to be "HPNetworkCommunicator.exe." The same thing happens no matter what program i am using, or if there is no activity on the desktop. The computer does not freeze. I can move the "busy in the background" cursor to other parts of the screen easily. yes, i check for computer virus, but found none. Since i posted my issue, i ran pctuneup.com, and now there is no abnormal CPU usage. CPU usage fluctuates from 0 to 2 with 110 processes running, as i write this post.

Thanx, both of you for your help.

Hi livingem,

Glad that the cursor looks good now. The 'PCtuneup' utility seems to have taken care of the issue.
Do reply if you have any further questions.

In my case it was Onedrive. For some reason, after I installed the SSD, Onedrive was continually working on something. I am removing it from my computer.
