Hi.. I have recently started to have this problem where every 4-5 seconds at my mouse cursor the spinning wheel will just spin and spin. I have closed everything out and checked my task manager (show processes from all users) and the only think running regularly is the system idle process. it is running around 95-99.
Im not sure if it matters but I have a Dell Precision laptop, ops Windows 7.
Can someone Please Help!!! it is driving me crazy!!
Can someone please help...
Thanks in advance...

Hi,

If the cursor has spinning circle icon, you either have a program that has a problem and keeps running or you have replaced the default arrow by the busy cursor.

Go to Control Panel>Mouse>Pointers and set a different cursor there or click set back to default.

Run the online Dell PC Diagnostics by clicking on the URL mentioned: http://www.dell.com/support/Diagnostics/us/en/19/
Select a Diagnostic Type as “SYMPTOM” and then select the option “Slow performance, lockups and freeze”.

If the issue still persists, start the computer in “Safe Mode and test the cursor movement. Below mentioned are the steps explaining the process to boot to safe mode:
· With the computer off, press the <Power> button and watch for the Dell logo to appear.

· When the Dell logo appears, press the <F8> key to load the Boot Menu. If the menu does not appear, restart the system and tap <F8> several times at the Dell logo screen.

· Use the Up arrow or Down arrow to highlight Safe Mode.

· Press <Enter> (you may have to press <Enter> again to select the Operating System, select your user name or click OK).

If the cursor work fine, it means there is some sort of software causing the curser to move very slowly. I would suggest trying a System Restore to the time the cursor was working properly. If that does not fix the issue, remove any software that was installed since the last time the cursor worked properly.

Kindly let me know for further clarifications.

Is it always spinning 100% of the time or only sometimes?

Most likely it's Java. I uninstalled it and the spinning wheel went away immediately and for good.

Thanks so much. I tried a recovery, that didn't help. I had installed McAfee, that didn't help. I reinstalled McAfee, that didn't help. Then I saw the post about JavaScript. I uninstalled it and everything is wonderful.
Thanks for helping out someone who doesn't know a lot.
