Hi Thrash, hope all is well, been a while.

Could you care to suggest, recommend your expert opinion regarding a custom pc built? (of course I cant, will use the services of a protech).

What components with specs and brands, would you recommend, like CPU, Video, RAM, board, monitor etc.

Hoping to hear from you.

Thanks!

The first question I always ask when needing to chose a computer is:

What will you use it for? What things do you expect to do with it?

Depending on what software do you expect to run we can help select the better hardware for it.

Firstly, I intend to get a pc built that would last a few years, like my Dell XPS 1710, been 12 years and still running good, OS W7 Pro 32 bit. But with Windows 10 and normal apps becoming heavy, is slowing.

Secondly, am not into gaming, want a pc to run W10 with all normal usage apps without any lags.

Thirdly, I do watch movies, want a rig to support a quality graphic card and occasionally TV. And yes I want one on which I can view medical scans without any issues.

Lastly I want a want a trouble free machine, with none headaches, one of the best if not the best that would last some time. Should have all options, whether I use them or not..

I find difficult to understand some points of your requirements, could you be more specific? Let me explain:

Firstly, I intend to get a pc built that would last a few years, like my Dell XPS 1710, been 12 years and still running good, OS W7 Pro 32 bit. But with Windows 10 and normal apps becoming heavy, is slowing.

Good point, future proof means you must go somewhat above the bare minimum. As of Windows itself, the requirements shouldn't be too much difficult (Windows has not seen a major update since Vista) but they depend more on the software you use on top of it.

Secondly, am not into gaming, want a pc to run W10 with all normal usage apps without any lags.

No games means we can cut down the hardware a lot, since you won't use it. That leaves us with a low or mid-range PC as the best choice. But please define "normal usage". What other software do you expect to use?

Thirdly, I do watch movies, want a rig to support a quality graphic card and occasionally TV. And yes I want one on which I can view medical scans without any issues.

Movies don't require any kind of special harware, with today CPUs even the built-in graphic card suffices for that purpose. But you'll profit from a good, large monitor. Good internet connection is another thing to consider (outside this thread), alongside good networking hardware.
No idea about the "medical scans", if they require special hardware or not.

Lastly I want a want a trouble free machine, with none headaches, one of the best if not the best that would last some time. Should have all options, whether I use them or not..

That seems like asking for too much. "Trouble" comes from insufficient hardware, but also from poor software management and choice, and it's not simply possible to preclude any kind of "headaches" with only hardware. Over time, new, more powerful software is likely to appear, with new hardware requirements, and in some time your "perfect" computer will become just a normal one.
Also, asking about "the best" don't considers other factors, mostly money. I could simplistically go to a store, sort by price and recommend the most expensive of each part, but that would be terrible advice.

The best actually depends on many factors, like how much you'll really use the hardware. how much money you want to spend and what lifetime you expect it to have. If you won't use something, there is no point in purchasing it.

Everything you have picked is a great piece of hardware. I hope your pockets are very deep :)

I use the Seagate 4TB drives and they work great.

I haven`t had to use my TT cooler yet. Leaving the H115i in there, it`s brand new and works fine. But the Thermaltake Riing Plus fans are excellent and I highly recommend them.

2 come with the cooler so you would only need 3 more for the case, or how many your case can fit, I have 5.

Thermaltake - U.S.A. - Riing Plus 14 RGB Radiator Fan TT Premium Edition (3 Fan Pack) - CL-F056-PL14SW-A

Get the 1080 Ti or wait for the 1180 if you want. But the 1080 you picked out will be fine too.

I highly recommend the SuperNova

and the PG279Q is simply amazing.

The Formula is expensive, I`ve always wanted one :) it`s a great looking board.

Most people who have gotten a 8700K have gotten it delidded, you can buy one and send it to silicon lottery or buy one from them already delidded. But delidding voids the Intel warranty.

https://siliconlottery.com/

Your only problem will be getting those parts over there in Paradise :)

Integrated Graphics is enough to play movies fine. But if you want a GPU, I'd stick with a GTX 1050 Ti

AddRAM,

My pick.....ah, don't be so humble, it won't have been possible without your expert recommendations.

I know they are great and expensive, but I'll manage. Hope it would last a few years...

1 question, best place to get a W10 Pro OEM DVD, like I have for W7, want a clean install?

And which MS Off do you recommend.......360?

Thanks again!

EDIT:

Which optical drive would you recommend?

The install dvd is not important, you can make your own, what you need is the key to activate Windows 10.

You can get that from Newegg, or if you had a Windows 7 Pro or Home Premium key you`re not using, you could use that.

But you can download Windows 10 from here, and create an install dvd or usb stick.

Download Windows 10

AddRAM,

1. Would W7 Pro 32 bit OEM DVD key work on W10 Pro 64 bit.........I don't think...your views?

2. Which version of MS Off 2016, would you recommend, since I mostly use MS Word?

3. As to UPS, am using APC 650, is good, gives me a 1 hour of backup on my old PC, would upgrading to 750 be fine, since requires 3 hrs for a full recharge vs. 8 hrs for 650?

4. My PC tech pro recommended me to get a Dell Optilpex 3050, since am not into gaming with a few mods, like changing the drives, increasing RAM to 16, etc. His views are am wasting money since am not into gaming....his thoughts are this is a great machine but for gamers mainly?

Hoping to hear from you...

Thanks again!

EDIT:

I might plan getting a 2 desktops, the one you recommended and a Optiplex till that gets built...

Yes a key can work for 32 or 64 bit, that doesn`t matter.

I don`t bother with Microsoft Office, just get what you need.

And as far as the parts you listed, hey, if you can afford them then build it.

I would never ever recommend a Dell to anyone.

A friend who btw is a gamer suggested but knowing me said this still is overkill for me.....

1. CPU....... Intel core i5 8th/9th generation. 9400F.

2. 16 GB DDR4 RGB corsair.

3. Mainboard : Z390 Asus Prime.

4. PSU: 650.

5. Planar 28" 2K display.

What specs brand of graphic card should I get?

If it`s just for office work than just get what you can afford and want to spend.

For example, you don`t need to get a dedicated video card if the CPU graphics will be good enough for what you need it to do.

You could also get a cheaper Power Supply, and just 8GB of memory.

The monitor you picked out will be expensive too, if you can get by with a 1920 x 1080 monitor than just get one of them.

It`s all about how much you want to spend :-)

Thanks AddRAM for posting your expert suggestions.

1. Fine. I'll leave the video card for now, if I ever feel the need would have the option on the board.

2. Care to post a link for a PSU?

3. Is crucial ballistic better than corsair vengeance? OR what would be your pick?

4. Regarding monitor, I'd want a crispy display.....is FHD enough......I was thinking of getting a QWD/2K. Occasionally I do watch a movie or add my Android device to it. Care to post some links.

Money isn't a issue want a custom built that would last a while.......

Thanks again

For the next custom build I'd transfer you the funds and ship it to HI..;)

Another question is core i5 9400F 8/9th gen good enough or should get i7 8/9th?

Thanks again.
