Is anyone familiar with making a non windows recovery entry? Or custom entrys to boot into for that matter.

I'm looking to use something like Hirens Boot Cd/USB however just have it on its own partition and not on a removable device. I know its more secure on a usb drive but im periodically in there and I do not wish to dedicate a thumb drive for it.

Maybe because I have them scattered all over the house...Maybe Im tired of labeling the things. Maybe that 5 dollars is worth something. It could be of some use instead of carrying a stick with me wherever my laptop goes. Why are you asking me questions about what I care about? How about instead of being a troll popping up in thread to ask a half-assed question, offer some worthwhile advice next time. I was at least polite enough to give you a suggestion.

Thanks derekimo

Actually unetbootin was of some use. I remember using it to get a few Linux distros to boot on a usb stick. Its just I'm not sure how to go about making an entry...I imagine Easybcd can help for this sort of thing.

Actually, I haven't used it myself but if you read down the page it sounds like it creates it's own entry.

Otherwise, if you did a "frugal install" by selecting "Hard Disk" as your install target, select the UNetbootin entry from the Windows Boot Menu as the system boots up.

About half way down,

UNetbootin - Homepage and Downloads

I was getting a Grldr error in unetbootin. I figured it out though.

Instructions on how to do what I was asking were found here on the forum.

Easybcd seems to have went through some changes.

Everything is highlighted in the pinkish rectangles...and simplified in blue text.

From my experience it didn't work with the "Run From Disk Option" the "Load From Memory" option gave me no issues. So its worth a try that way if you don't have any luck the first time.

Once you add the entry...the file/folder it gives you is the ANG0 file and NST folder which will be on your C:\ volume.
If you have more than one entry made by easybcd from an image it will give you more ANG files...example ANG1, ANG2 etc. It works the same with the files in the NST folder so be careful not to delete those. Great that it didn't put a billion files there.

If you want to delete the entry just delete the files and folder I mentioned, and open Easybcd, Edit Boot Menu, select the entry...then hit delete.

This is a very speedy way...I thought I'd share if anyone else wanted to do something like this. Thanks again derekimo and also severedsolo for the original article.
