Speedgamer never mind my previous question i used the changer program however i now have 3 questions/request

  1. Could you please try making the effect of the "hover " icon bigger because from were i am sitting when i hover over the button i can barely see the effect
  2. Second I cant get the image to work if i save it as a bitmap i can only get it to display properly if i use the png (in the program) otherwise i get black lines. so yeah is there a difference
  3. Could you please try to make the same with the other logo, i just want to see how it will look like
Again i know these are nit picky things but i would really appreciated it if you could answer/attempt them

Thank you so much;)

How about these?

Halo ONI orb 125 03.png Halo ONI orb 125 02.png

If you use it with the orb changer the best is to use pngs as far as I experimented it.
As for changin the image in explorer.exe, I am not sure how i got the bmp file that I have now, but I think I used the orb as a png with the orb changer and then saved the converted bmp file with resource hacker from the exe file that the orb changer created. Then I put the bmp into explorer.exe an viola! So i changed the native orb.
The orb changer creates an exe file in %windir% (forgot the name), and every time you start the computer it runs it as a replacement of the orb.
(I hated that an extra process is running so i tweaked explorer.exe and deleted the waste exe with the orb)

The file is expstart.exe I just looked in my win directory after i restored defaults through manual backup and it was the most recent edit and resource hacker showed it had the orb icons so it is EXPSTART.
BTW, what images did you change in explorer.exe for 125%

Thank you so much for your efforts and for creating the buttons but i have 3 more question.

When i save the buttons (right click save as) as bitmap there is no alpha layer  (so does that mean that this is why the bitmaps don't work.

Second If i use the ORB changer with the png the hover effect is a black glare is it supposed to be black or white? because i think the previous 1 was white

Thank you so much

Which program is that you are trying to save it as a bmp in?

It is supposed to be black on the 1st 1 and white on the 2nd. The very first orb had a black glare. :)

I mean when i save the image from ie9 as a bitmap there is no alpha layer!
That is how you get the picture (right click save as) right?

Saving the image in an other format rather than it's original doesn't really make sense, since it is not converted to bmp like that.
Here is a native bmp, try this one :p
I had to zip it because the uploader said the file is invalid..

loooooooooooool i thought it was natively bmp but the thing allowed to save as png hence the file type drop down
Thanks

That extra exe (expstart.exe) that Kishan's Start Orb Changer creates is used to alter the resources of 'explorer.exe' in memory instead of editing the physical file. It's a fail-safe for Windows Updates, if explorer.exe gets replaced for any reason (update, SFC, anti-virus scan, etc) then you won't have to re-apply your custom start orb. Personally I think that should be an option in the application, and I think I have suggested it to Kishan before, but I haven't checked recently to see if he's decided to do that yet or not. :)

By default Windows uses a 32-bit BMP (RGBA), the Alpha channel determines transparency when it's applied as a Start Orb. Many apps (Start Orb Changer included if I remember correctly) will allow you to use other image formats, but you're less likely to have problems with applying a Start Orb that was saved in 32-bit BMP format to start with.

Hey,
thanks for congratulating me on the badge i just noticed ;P
Sorry i was not able to respond earlier i outside :)
Anyway.........
WOW, they look amazing, im serious they DO! thank you very much !:D
but (as usual) there is another request
For the one with the red orb as pressed could you make the hover icon open (like still yellow but open like you did with the other blue one)

Second for the one withe the yellow as thee pressed, could you try to make that "open as well"

Fianlly could you upload them as .png as well as .bmp with the alpha layer, this part is not really begged for, but if you can include the .bmp as well as the .png if you like :)

Again THANK YOU SO MUTCH!;)
im going to say it on tape so everyone can listen to it a 100 time a day - cave
