Custom Start Orb Issue

I installed a custom start orb a little over two weeks ago with the program Start Orb Changer. Once in a blue moon when I shut the PC down and restart the next morning the start orb changes to the default start orb. It did the same thing this morning when I booted up my PC. It doesn,t do it everytime I shutdown but at random times. Any ideas on what might be causing the custom orb to change to the default one? Thanks.

Did you use 'Windows 7 Start Orb Changer'?

If you did, run it as Administrator and click on Restore. After the start orb has been restored, change it again to your custom one, remembering to run the tool as Admin.

If this still doesn't work, try option two in the below tutorial to change it via a Resource Editor.

Thanks for the reply. The utility I used to install the custom orb is Start Orb Changer by Kishan Bagaria at the Door2 Window website. Don't see an option to run as Admin.

Here is a screenshot of the Start Orb I use.

That's the one. To run as Administrator, right click the file and select Run as Administrator.

To run the program as an administrator you need to right click then select "Run as Administrator". Sometimes if explorer isn't shut down correctly my orb returns back to default but another reboot and everything is back to normal. I don't think you have an issue its just one of those things, but when changing the orb you should Run as Admin in future

I found the Start Orb File and right clicked the file. Run as Admin is already selected. I click Restore and then selected the custom one. Will keep an eye on it for the next few days and see if it stays selected. Thanks again for the help.

Still having issues with the custom orb not being saved when I do a shutdown or a restart. The default orb starts each time I do a shutdown regardless of what custom orb I have applied. Did a Malwarebytes scan yesterday and no malware was detected. Don't understand why Windows is not saving my settings when I do a shutdown.
