I used the correct command you gave me.FORMAT FS=NTFS.it didnt work.

Sentinel 72 I think what Karl is saying, in that line leave out ((PARTITIONN))
that was the error.
FORMAT PARTITIONN FS=NTFS will format the selected partition
My understanding is that you do all the steps just change that one line.

Now be sure and understand I'm no expert on such matters. I'm not recommending anything. Just something I noticed and I'm trying to give another though on your problem.
Just something to think on.

ive done this already.ive used his suggestions and at the end of the scan it says "parameter is incorrect".ive tried to explain that i have tried his corrected set of commands and it didnt work.

I could use free recovery software like mini-tool etc.but the problem is the free versions only allow to recover 1gb of data.The D partition is the recovery one so it will contain a lot more.(about 40-50gb).At the moment im quite content to just delete the partition .
Im going to use easeus to try this.At the moment windows will not even let me format the partition.

Forget about using Windows - use EaseUS to delete that partition. If you get errors, post screen shots of the errors.

ok ive deleted the partition and merged the D partition with C.i now have a rather large C drive lol.

i used easeus partition manager to remove the partiton.unfortunately i didnt recover the data on it but thats not such a big deal with me,then i merged the D partition with C.
