Solved D-Link DWA 160 extremely slow

My download speed on another laptop on the network is 10 megabits, with this adapter I can barely get one. Is this just a bad adapter or is there a possible fix?

I don't have a whole lot to go on, but have you checked your wireless router to see if there might be any limits set for your 2.4 or 5Ghz band?

How would I go about checking that?

Right now it is plugged into the router through ethernet, and it is getting 2.5 megabits, compared to the laptop's 10.

hi guys, this is my first time on this forum

same thing here,
I bought the dwa 160 xtreme like last year, and then a few months later, it stopped working altogether, although I got a replacement because of the warranty

now its really slow, using it on a windows 7 pc, averages like 1 or 2 Mb/s (tested through speed test.net), and it only gets like 2 bars of wireless connectivity (down the bottom on the taskbar), whereas other laptop has full bars

Also, my mac gets like around 35 Mb/s at its slowest, according to speedtest.net as well,

Does anyone happen to have a solution?

Yep, I found the problem. After performing windows updates, the internet speed was fine.

Any chance you know which update fixed the issue? Would be good info for me in the future perhaps.
